| Alexander H. Holland
b. 1853 in SC |
Looking for someone that may know something about Alexander H. Holland b. 1853 in SC d. between 1927-1929 in Fairview Township, Greenville County, SC. I know he was in Charleston, SC in 1897, because he is the father of my grandfather Herbert Akue Dorn born out of wedlock in 1898. His mother's name was Martha Emma Dorn. They moved from Charleston around 1900 to the upstate of SC. He married Martha Emma in 1907. He is on the Greenville County 1910 Census and was a Supervisor for Whitney Mills at this time. My grandfather never mentioned this man (his father) to his wife or any of his children. He always told his children his father was John Milledge Dorn, who was Martha's previous husband who was killed in an Industrial accident in 1891. This was a shock to my entire family when I found out that John Milledge died 7 years before my grandfather was born. There are a lot of unanswered questions. I have not been able to get any info on this man. There is a possibility that Alexander was half Cherokee Indian. My grandfather did say that he, himself was 1/4 Cherokee Indian and there is no Indian blood on the Dorn side. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Contact me , Keith Dorn email Slimd49001@aol.com. 22 September 2000 |
