This page is a sub-section of Woodard D. Holland 2 and his wife Rhoda's fifth child, Eli C. Holland.  It covers the children of his third marriage with Nancy Mozell Purvis. The complete line of Eli's parents, Woodard D. and Rhoda, along with Eli's siblings is located on Woodard D. 2's page.  

A note the Woodard D. Hollands in this family.  There are three generations of Woodard D. Holland, beginning with Elisha's son born in 1794.  Since we do not know what the D. stands for, we cannot assume that the second Woodard D. was a Junior, or that his son was the 3rd; their middle names could have all been different.  So, for the sake of referencing them in this family history, I am going to refer to the second-generation Woodard D. Holland, born in 1834, as Woodard D. 2, and to his son, born in 1868, as Woodard D. 3.  This is not to be taken as repeated names in subsequent generations which we would distinguish as Jr. and III, but merely as a convenience of reference.  

5.  Eli C. Holland   was called Jack.  He was born 26 July 1866 in North Carolina and died 13 June 1939 in Appling County, Georgia.  He married three times.  This section covers the children of is third wife, Nancy Mozell Purvis. Nancy was born 30 October 1884 and died 18 July 1962. 

There are pictures of Nancy Mozell Purvis and Eli C. (Jack) Holland in the Album section of this web site, as well as pictures of their graves in the  Holland Cemetery in Appling County, Georgia. There are also pictures of the graves of many of the people in this family.  The pictures were provided by Pat and Skip Coggin and Nancy Holland Slagle.  Nancy Holland Slagle photo-recorded the Cemetery in March 2001.  She reported that she saw three infant graves with stones inscribed, "Infant of Jack" on each one.  We do not know which of this wives these infants belonged to.

4.  Ella Holland (called "Ellie") was born 9 July 1906. She died 13 January 1995 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida and was buried in the Freewill Baptist Church cemetery in Appling County, Georgia.  She married Charles Morris who was born 13 September 1908. He was the son of Ruben Morris and Lilly Amons.  Ellie Holland and Charles Morris; they lived in Surrency, Appling County, Georgia.  He is also buried at the Freewill Baptist Church in Appling County, Georgia.

1.  Theadus Ann Morris was born 13 November 1930 in Appling County, Georgia.   She married Leroy Straight from Missouri.  They were divorced.  Then she married a Mr. Crouch.

2.  Curtis Edwards Morris was born 9 March 1932 in Appling County, Georgia.  He served in the Korean Was and was a POW (Prisoner of War).  He died 1 September 1985 and was buried in Memorial Cemetery in Appling County, Georgia.  Curtis married Mabel Beatrice Luffman on 31 August 1954, in Trenton, New Jersey.  Mabel Luffman was born in Watertown, New York. 
Children of Curtis Edwards Morris and Mabel:

1.  Pamela Joy Morris was born 12 April 1955, in Trenton, New Jersey.  She was married to Matthew Ward Wells from 1976 to 1983, and to Jerry Taylor from 1983 to 1985.  Pam married Jay Durpee Jervey in 1988.  All marriages were in Jacksonville, Florida.¹⁵⁰

2.  Sheri Morris was born 17 April 1957.  She married a Jones.

3.  Jeffrey Curtis Morris was born 7 December 1959.

3.  Jack James Morris was born 6 December 1933 in Appling County, Georgia.  He married Edna Gordan who was born 7 July 193?.  They divorced.  Edna died 7 July 1992.  Jack married 2nd Imogene (called 'Gene') Parks from St. Charles, Virginia.  She was born 19 May 1934, the daughter of Horbart Parks and Eleanor Smith.

1.  James Ray Morris was born 8 Jan 1956 in Jacksonville, Florida.

2.  Jerry Wayne Morris was born 14 February 1958 in Jacksonville, Florida.

3.  Joseph Anthony Morris was born 2 February 1966 in Jacksonville, Florida.

4.  Rhoda Myrtice (called 'Polly') Morris was born 11 September 1936 in Appling County, Georgia.  She married Ellis Charles Edenfield on 24 May 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida.  He was born about 1936 and died 22 May 2007, in Jacksonville, Florida.  They divorced in Palm Beach, Florida.  Rhoda married 2nd Karl Eugene Lawrence Leister.  He was born about 1939, and died in Naples, Florida in 2005 at age 66.  They divorced.  On 10 September 1983 in Gainesville, Florida, Rhoda Myrtice Morris married 3rd Myron (called 'Mike") DeSmidt.  He was born 5 July 1926, and died in 2009.  He was from Westbend, Wisconsin, the son of Foster DeSmidt and Ema Burkhart from Sheboygan, Wisconsin.²³²

1.  Charles Edwards Edenfield was born 3 September 1956.

2.  Kenneth Carroll Edenfield was born 6 February 1960.  He married Judy Boyt in 1984 in Kingsland, Georgia.  They divorced in Duval County, Florida.

2.  Amanda Edenfield was born est. 1987.

Children of Rhoda Myrtice Morris and Karl Eugene Lawrence Leister:

1.  Karl Russell Edward Leister was born 5 August 1969.  He married Frances Sacco who was born 27 November 1966.

1.  Casie Kassandra Leister was born 29 July 1991.

5.  Cecil Morris was born 10 June 1938 in Baxley, Appling County, Georgia.  He married Carolyn Crews about 1960 in Duval County, Florida.  They divorced around 1964.  He married second Claudine White about 1967 in Alma, Bacon County, Georgia.  They divorced around 1998-1999.

1.  Philip Charles Morris was born about 1961.

1.  Benjamin Cecil Morris was born 1968 in Stewart, Martin County, Florida.  He married Tina Carter around 1987.  They divorced around 1998-1999.

1.  Savannah Shyan Morris was born about 1997-1998.  

6.  Suzzan Morris was born 17 November 1947 in Baxley, Appling County, Georgia.  She married Buster Paul.  He died.  They did not have children.

6.  Ethel Holland was born 8 October 1910.   She married J. C. Martin who was born around 1910 and died in 1954..  They lived in Patterson, Georgia.  She died 28 March 1977 and was buried in the Holland Cemetery in Appling County, Georgia.  There is a picture of her grave in the Album section of this web site.

1.  Alice Martin was born in 1932 in Durham, North Carolina.  She married 1st Wade Jack O'Berry; divorced in 1962 in Monroe County, Florida.  Alice married 2nd Enoil Beaulieu;  divorced in 1964.  Alice Martin died in October 2009.²⁰¹

1.  Michael O'Berry was born in 1953 in Miami, Dade County, Florida.   He married Shamron [last name unknown.

2.  Wade Jack O'Berry, Jr. was born in 1955 in Miami, Dade County, Florida.   He married Jadia Faith Mason in Marathon, Monroe County, Florida.  They live in Greenville, South Carolina.
Children of Wade O'Berry, Jr. and Jadia:

1.  Melissa O'Berry was born in Marathon, Monroe County, Florida, 24 March 1980.  She married first Todd Spano 1 May 1999.  They were divorced in May 2005.  Melissa O'Berry married second, Mitchell Johnson, Jr. on 17 March 2006, in Jamaica. ²⁰¹

1.  Desmin Marie Spano was born 21 December 2000, in Miami, Florida.

2.  Florence Martin was born in 1934.  She married Jack Deyton.

7.  Beatrice Holland was born 1 March 1917.  She married Joseph William Meadows, son of Dewitt Lee Meadows (born 6 August 1877, died 15 November 1963) and Eva Mae C. (born 7 April 1893, died 2 August 1962.  Joe Meadows was born 20 May 1909, and died 2 January 1965.  They lived in Patterson, Georgia.  Beatrice died 16 October 1979, and was buried in the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Patterson, Pierce County, Georgia along with her husband Joe and her son.

1.  Joseph William Meadows, Jr. was born 17 September 1937.  He died 7 January 1976, and was buried with his parents in the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Patterson, Pierce County, Georgia.  He married 1st Shirley Harris.  
Children of Joseph 'Buddy' Meadows, Jr. and Shirley Harris:

1.  Joseph William Meadows, III was born 4 December 1970, in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.  He is a twin to Leonard Dewitt Meadows.  He married Sonia Revels on 1 July 1995, in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.  Sonia was born 24 July 1972, the daughter of Larry Revels and Sadie, of Millwood, Georgia. 
Child of Joseph William Meadows III and Sonia Revels:

1.  William Taylor Meadows was born 8 January 1998 in Waycross, Georgia.

2.  Leonard Dewitt (called Dee) Meadows was born 4 December 1970, in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.  He is a twin to Joseph William Meadows, III.  He married Crista Albritton (born 7 April 1972) of Greenville, North Carolina, on 19 June 1993 in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia.  She is the daughter of Billy Albritton and Sandy Rose.  
Child of Leonard Dewitt Meadows and Crista Albritton:

1.  Will Meadows was born 27 may 1997.  

3.  Ellen LaBau Meadows was born about 1973, probably in Waycross, Georgia.

8.  William Dillard Holland (called "Sonny") was born 9 September 1921 in Appling County, Georgia.  He died 10 November 1989 in Orange Park, Clay County, Florida, and was buried at Red Oak Baptist Church in Appling County, Georgia.  Sonny lived in Jacksonville, Florida.  His wife's name was Hertha Moody.  She was the daughter of John Moody and Lessie Smith from Pierce County.  Hertha and Sonny were married in Appling County, Georgia on 15 November 1947.  Hertha Moody Holland died 9 September 2007, in Fort Pierce, Florida, at age 82.  She was also buried at Red Oak Baptist Church.  Her obituary is in the Public Records section of this web site.
Children of Woodard D. ("Sonny") Holland and Hertha Moody:

1.  Cheryl Holland (no middle name) was born 19 December 1948 in Alma, Bacon County, Georgia.  She married Dale Owen Porter, son of Roy Porter and Avis [last name unknown].  Dale was born 25 February 1945 in Sunnyside, Yakima County, Washington.  They were married in Dinsmore, Duval County, Florida.  
Children of Cheryl Holland and Dale Porter:

1.  Wayne Dale Porter (twin) was born 31 July 1970 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.  He married Kristy Armstrong on 9 July 1999 in Orlando, Orange County, Florida.  Kristy had a son, Michael Alan Drew, by a previous marriage.
Child of Wayne Porter and Kristy Armstrong:

1.  Katelyn Nicole Porter was born 3 December 2002, in Altamonte Springs, Seminole County, Florida.¹²²

2.  Pamela Gail Porter (twin) was born 31 July 1970 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.  She married Antonia Arrieta on 8 December 1998, in Orlando, Orange County, Florida.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois 21 February 1966, the son of Maria and Diogenes Arrieta.  Antonia had a daughter, Emma Arrieta, by a previous marriage.  
Child of Pamela Gail Porter and Antonia Arrieta:

1.  Conner Michael Arrieta was born 8 June 2000, in Plantation, Florida.  

2.  Dillon Antonio Arrieta was born 25 January 2002, in Plantation, Florida.

3.  Samantha Gail Arrieta was born 22 November 2004, in Plantation, Florida.

9.  Evelyn Holland was born 15 September 1924 in Appling County, Georgia.  She died 23 March 2001 in Savannah, Georgia.. She married Hyman Martin in Wayne County, Georgia.  He was born in 1923, the son of Cary Martin and Bivy Boatright.  Hyman died 9 September 1977.  They  lived in Odum, Wayne County, Georgia.  They are both buried in the Odum City Cemetery in Odum, Wayne County, Georgia.
Children of Evelyn Holland and Hyman Martin:

1.  Harold Martin was born16 June 1944 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.  He married Bonnie Susan Carter 19 June 1965, daughter of Russell Carter and Leona Bird.  They divorced. ⁴⁶

1.  Russell Hyman Martin was born 6 September 1972.  

2.  Dian Evelyn Martin was born 1 August 1946 in Bacon County, Georgia.  She married Berry C. Kicklighter in Wayne County, Georgia.  Berry is the son of W. C. Kicklighter and Wanda [last name unknown].

1.  Andrea Kicklighter was born 24 December.  She married Jayson Head.

1.  Molly Dian Head was born 7 December 2002 in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia.

3.  Pamela Martin was born 24 March 1951.²²  She married first, Richard Wade McDuffie.  He was born 7 Marach 1949 in rochelle, Wilcox County, Georgia.  He died in a plane crash in June 1987.  Pamela Martin married second, John A. Shaver.  He was born 16 August 1947 in Lumberton, Robeson County, North Carolina.  They were married 30 September 1989 in Gardi Baptist Church in Gardi, Wayne County, Georgia.

1.  Paul J. McDuffie was born 27 April 1970 in Jesup, Wayne County, Georgia.  ⁴⁶
