16. Candace D. Holland, sixteenth and next-to-last
child of Elisha Holland and Patience Peacock, was born
12 April 1825, in North Carolina. She married William W. Peacock 19
March 1885. He was born 19 March 1822. They moved to Coffee County,
Alabama.
Candace died 19 January 1907 and was buried in the Wellborn cemetery in Coffee
County, Alabama. William W. Peacock died 27 May 1885 and was buried with
his wife in the Wellborn cemetery. There is another grave marker for him
at Rhodes Church near Kinston, Coffee County, Alabama, which reads, "W. W.
age 63, 27 may 1885."70 Nellie H. Russell wrote that many of this family were living
in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1963.
Candace Holland and William Peacock had the following children:
1. Jincy Peacock was born 14 January 1845, died 14 October
1879. She married 14 March 1885 Newton
Eyghts (pronounced Yates). Their children moved to Florida.
(Note: M. K. D. Holland writes, "As the information on
this family, as contained in the genealogy filed by Miss Russell, was a carbon copy and
did not photostat very good and as I have not been able to return to the archives to
recheck this, it might not be entirely as she had it but have done the best I
could." There is an obvious error in the data on Jincy Peacock above, since M.
K. D. Holland has her marrying after her death. Although the marriage date of 1885
has Jincy not getting married until age 40, the two birth dates of her children do follow
soon after. So a logical guess would have to be that the error is in the death date
of 1879.
Children of Jincy Peacock and Newton Eyghts:
1. James B. Eyghts, born 16 June 1886
2. Seth Eyghts, born 28 August 1889
2. Joseph Brantley Peacock was born 22 August 1849. He married 20 September 1879

previously been married to a Chandler and had a son Orville Chandler when
she married Needham Gray Peacock.71 Needham Gray
Peacock married 2nd Annie Gendrow, his brother Brady Peacock's widow.

About this History
My father's people came from Wayne County, North Carolina. Although I live in Alabama now, I inherited his love of our heritage. So it is with love for him and admiration for his strong desire to preserve our history that I dedicate my part in compiling and maintaining this Holland Family History and Tree to my father, Louis Lea Holland
17 February 1917 - 8 January 1976
